2001
David Crystal and Ian Saunders found Crystal Reference Systems to make the data classification system usable for the online advertisement market.
2005
The Sense Engine™ technology is launched at the Ad:Tech in New York.
2006
ad pepper media takes over Crystal Reference Systems’
development of a taxonomy tailored to the needs of the advertisement industry.
2007
Translation of the system into up to nine languages commences.
Adoption of the Emediate platform for integrating the iSense topics into the Ad Server.
2009
Semantic advertising becomes a cornerstone of ad pepper media’s product portfolio. The technology is awarded first prize at the Festival of Media Awards for a semantic ad campaign for customer Smeg.
2010
Socio-demographic target groups such as LOHAS, Silversurfer or Early Adopter can be reached through semantic advertising by bundling relevant topic categories
